25th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition / 5th World Conference on Photovoltaic Energy Conversion, Valencia, Spain, September 2010

The 5th World Conference on Photovoltaic Energy Conversion will unite the three most important scientific and strategic conferences for the global PV solar sector: the 25th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition, the 36th US IEEE Photovoltaic Specialists Conference and the 20th Asia/Pacific PV Science and Engineering Conference. 

The Conference will take place from 6th to 10th September 2010 at the Feria Valencia in Spain.

First Solar has joined the Desertec solar power project

The project hopes to supply 15 percent of Europe's power by 2050 via a network of renewable energy sources. First Solar said it was the first pure photovoltaic company to join the 400 billion euro project, set to be the world's biggest, that proposes sending energy created in the Sahara to local markets and to Europe.    Read at reuters.com

European energy agency could form super-regulator

 Brussels is pressing ahead with plans to establish an energy agency which is seen as a prototype European regulator. The body could eventually restrict national policymaking but could also give important impetus to North Sea wind power and developing a European "supergrid".   guardian.co.uk
