Paulo Casaca, while MEP, supported and participated in the organization of the event “Transatlantic Conference on Renewable Energy”, held in Terceira Island, Azores, by December 2006.
The event was attended by several personalities, from politicians, academics, journalists, members of institutions and NGO’s, among others.
This initiative resulted in the signing of the North-Atlantic Declaration of Support for Renewable Energies Meeting in the Azores. Success led to its repetition in the year 2009. Paulo Casaca participated both as a moderator and member of the Scientific Commission.

2nd Transatlantic Conference on Renewable Energies
The Second Transatlantic Conference on Renewable Energies held in Terceira Island, Azores, between 3 and April 4, 2009 and brought together government, industry and academia in order to create a plan for research to analyze and discuss the key technologies, studying challenges and policies related to the rapid and high market penetration of renewable energy as an important contribution to the promotion of sustainable energy. Paulo Casaca participated both as a moderator and a member of the Scientific Commission.
